Is Natural Pine Wood shavings with chlorophyll good for hamsters?
Answers:
Both Pine and Cedar shavings contain aromatic oils that are bad for your hamster's respiratory system and can lead to infections or other complications. Instead of pine, try using Aspen shavings, as Aspen contains no aromatic oils, or a recycled paper bedding such as Carefresh or Yesterday's News. These are the healthiest types of bedding, and offer better odor control than pine or cedar as well.
if you mean this, http://www.kaytee.com/products/image/?pi... or something like it, then yes. my dwarf hamsters loved it since it had the consistency of paper - which hamsters love to chew on.
if you can, try and air it out for a day or so before you use it so that the oils and odors that are naturally in pine disperse.
I use recycled paper that u buy in the pet store. It is like cotton but more durrable. It has no arroma so your hamster doesnt have any breathing problems.
