Is there anything i can do to make my hamster skinny?

Harvey, my hamster, is FAT! He keeps getting stuck in his tube ! how do i make him exercise?
Answers:
mostly it is caused by over feeding. take the tube out and put in alot of excersise toys. take out the food bowl and give him it once a day. you cant really make him skinny but you can prevent him from getting any fatter if you do that.
get him an exercise wheel they only cost around 5 dollars
Make sure he has a wheel to run in. Reduce the amount you are feeding him and be careful if he gets stuck in those tubed he could kill himself so keep an eye on him/her
take the tube out . they are naturally fat!!
DO YOU HAVE A WHEEL?? THAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS YOU NEEDED WHEN YOU GOT HIM!!!!!!
The exercise wheel is a good choice. You can also purchase an exercise ball so that your hamster can roll around your house (make sure the room is secure!). You can also buy hamster chew toys to satisfy his need to gnaw. This may also burn calories. The food you feed should be specific hamster food and not food for other rodents. But I think that the wheel should do the trick.
Does your hamster have a wheel in his cage? if not, it is HIGHLY recommended that you get him a wheel. Also, giving your hamster 2 spoonsful of hamster food, along with fresh fruits and veggies, is all that a hamster needs in a day. Along with that, let your hamster run in a hamster ball, or let him crawl all over you! Let him play for about 10 minutes each day.
Thanks for taking this answer, and good luck!
ummmm don't feed him as much and if the food ur giving him has nuts in it that makes them fat to and get him a wheel and one of those hamster balls and let them run around 4 a half an hour and take the tubes out and if u can't take them out u might consider a glass fish tank thats what i had to put mine in cuz it got stuck in there good luck
You could try feeding it vegetables.
Actually, some hamster tubes are generally too small for the adult male syrian (Habitrail... *cough*) so don't start accusing the hamster of being fat too soon. Get him a solid, plastic, at least 8" wheel and you'll really see him run.
yes,
they need plently of excersize and water
a wheel , a ball , water and healthy foods like carrots and celery will help.
How old is he? hams have week hearts and will start to swell when they're older from what humans would call congestive heart failure. There really nothing you can do about it if it's that. It usually starts at 1 1/2 to 2 years. If he is overweight I suggest a hamster ball so he can roll around the house. think about it it's a lot more possible exercise he could get. Make sure you have a working wheel, hide food beneath corners in his cage so he'll dig for it. stuff like this could really help!
he's not fat - he's fluffy. Sorry, couldn't resist. I am often accused of - er, 'fluffying' my hams. Usually after a ham hits about a year old he'll start to slow down a little bit and this is when the 'fluff' sets in. Everyone's suggestions are valid - products that make the tubes too small for full grown hams - too true, making sure he has access to a wheel and possibly an exercise ball. Things to keep him entertained in his cage so his energy levels stay up and plenty of 'out time' so he can go exploring. He'll love veggies anyway but I don't know if that helps him lose weight. To throw in my two cents - I will add that both corn and peanuts - which most companies put heavily in their hamster food - are fillers and taking those out of his diet should help him lose some of that weight. Hams, unlike people, can't be made to exercise, but if you take out the corn and peanuts and make sure he's got plenty to keep him interested and active, it should be all right if he's a little bit on the 'fluffy' side.
Yes give it an exversize wheel, healthy foods and healthy treats.
