Is it normal for a hamster to drink nearly two bottles of water a day?
Answers:
Is your hamster a dwarf? If it is, than it may have diabetes. Go see a vet. If you have a Syrian, then you should get another water bottle that doesn't leak. This is what happened to my hamster. I got a new water bottle for my hamster when it leaked. Don't take the old bottle out, or your hamster will escape. Good luck!
No, it is not normal, but are you sure the bottles are not leaking out? No little creature could drink that much fluid without consequences. Check with a small animal vet if you see that the bottles are not leaking.
No, that is not normal. Check your hamsters water bottle and make sure there is no leakes. If there isn't, contact the veterinarian and have a brief chat about what could be wrong.
If humans can drink lots of water a day. I THINK it could be ok.
But on the other hand it does sound a bit unusual my guinea pig(that runs around all day)Only drink well nearly 1 bottle a day so if u think its a real concern take it to a vet.
i dont think so but if u hav like 2 hamsters then yes its possible. my rat drinks 3 quarters of a bottle.
I don't think that is very normal! Does the your hamster's water bottle have any leakes in it? If not, then take him to the vet. I don't think a little hamster's stomach could hold all that water!! Take him to the vet if no leakes. Wish you luck with your hamster!
I don't think so
no see a vet
That would be highly impossible. Are you sure it not leaking? Maybe you should get a new water bottle. You need the water bottle to leak a little bit, so the hamster can get enough water. And are you sure they aren't to hot? Animals get hot easily. Make sure the room isn't to hot, yet to cold.
no its not normal you should call a vet to a checkup
Is it normal for a guinea pig's tooth to fall out?
I am babysitting my neighbor's guinea pig. Today i was holding it and i heard it chewing on something and it sounded hard. I open it's mouth and saw blood and i'm pretty sure it's to oth fell out and that's what it was chewing.Should I take it to they vet? HELP!
Answers:
Oh please, they do not fall out every two months!
You should definently read this guinea lynx entry before doing anything dramatic: http://www.guinealynx.com/teeth_broken.h...
So basically this explains that if the whole tooth broke out, root and all, you should take him to an experience small animal vet so that they can monitor it's progress and give you Critical Care. Critical Care is a mashed up pellet mix that can be fed with a syringe so that the guinea pig eats without his tooth. If only part of the tooth is gone, you should be okay. If it looks sharp, take him in to the vet.
Most likely he broke his tooth off on something. Their teeth continually grow, so it should grow back if the root wasn't damaged. Make sure he continues to eat, as pigs are very sensitive to pain and this could put him off his feed. Make sure plenty of timothy hay is available. Also make sure the pig is getting an outside source of Vitamin C, very important for good tooth health.
they fall out about once every 2 months they grow back don't worry
Please listen to Gailtheguineapig. The person who said that teeth fall out every 2 months is totally wrong!!

Is it normal for a guinea pigs to make like a cooing noise?
When she does this she also shakes,,,
Answers:
I could be 2 things, either are okay. Since you say she is "shaking" while she is doing this noise, I would say that she probably is rumblestrutting. When they rumblestrut, they kind of move their butt back and forth. It usually happens when a female is in season or when a male is romancing other pigs or showing dominance. My boys rumble at eachohter throught the bars to show who is tough.
She could also could be purring which just means that she like you petting her. If it happens after a sudden noise, then she's just saying that she didn't like the noise. Here's a site with sounds and explanations http://jackiesguineapiggies.com/guineapi...
Yes.It means they are happy.Mine do it when I pet them in their favorite spots.
yeah it is. mine does it when its horny...
but sometimes when its scared.
dont worry though.
squeaky sounds means its happy :)
yes completely normal, my friend had a guinea pig and it purred and shaked when it purred. but i found it cute
no maybe it has something stuck in its troaght
Yes. It means they are content, it's like a cat purring. We had one that would whistle and chirp every time she heard the refrigerator door open because she wanted a carrot! They are great pets!
Yeah, i used to have some guinea pigs and they did this also. I dont think that anything is wrong.

It has a list of different sounds and what they mean, try matching them to the sound your guinea pig makes.
yes it's normal. they do this when they are happy, or content. or if your scratching them, it means keep scratching there!
yes that means they are happy
I've only heard my guinea pig do this a couple times. It's completely normal. Guinea pigs make all kinds of sounds. And a guinea pig making a "cooing noise" means that all is well.
yup, my guinea pig does that2
They usually do that just before they die.
yea it's normal.i have 2 and when mine does that i look at them and they are cute they r just happy lil piggys!
hope this helps!!

Is it normal for 2-3 month old hedgehogs?
to shed their quills?
Answers:
Spines normally come out when a hedgehog sheds baby spines and replaces them with adult spines around the first year. When under extreme stress or during sickness, a hedgehog will lose spines.
probably. quilled animals tend to shed allot, thankfully porcupines do to. since when can you own a hedgehog. never knew you could buy them
Yes, they can shed their quills up to one year old and sometimes every now and then after that.

Is it natural for gerbils to jump really, really, high?
because my gerbils somehow think that they can jump high (and they can) and push the top of thier cage off is that natural?
Answers:
Yes it is natural. Guinea pigs,hamsters,gerbils,rats,etc... are really high jumpers. its natural and if they can push the top the cage off, i would lock it up secure at night so he doesn't get out.
If they can do it, then it's natural, lol...
I had a pair of gerbils that would jump out of their cage all the time. It got to where I just opened the lid on their 10-gallon tank and let them come out on their own. None of my other gerbils have ever had any interest in jumping. But they're all individuals.
I think i probably is... if its not it probably should know better
yes my gerbil jumped right out of his little cage when i was cleaning the big one
yes, they are related to the black rat, a super efficient jump, in other words... get a realy deep cage, or one with a sophisticated lock

Is it just me or do most pet male rats like to create nests?
Answers:
No, it's not just you...I didn't know you like to build nests, LOL!
Not all rats build nests, but both male and female rats can get enthusiastically into this business, females more so. Of course, females get into a fever pitch with nest building at birthing time.
When males build nests they seem to be very creative in their work. I had one boy who would take so much nesting material into his hut, work so hard building his nest, and then found he accidently blocked the door to his hut so now he couldn't get out. What a knob, LOL! He had to partially destroy his nest to find the exit.
We had a male rat on one of the forums who constantly built nests so big that it should have been recorded in the Guiness Book of World Records.
Nest building behavior:

spazrats
"my life has gone to the rats"
wild male rats make nests, so i suppose it would be instinctual for pet rats, also.
Nests just ain't for babies, they for snuggly sleeping! :) Male rats like to get comfy too.
Yeah my little guy has a nest just not in the traditional way :) He makes Man Nests...lol
My rat creat nexts all the time it is his instincts. they are nocturnal and don't like to be exposed during the day

To be in posession, yes.

Ownership and purchase of gerbils is illegal in California.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/gerbil...
Ask your mom she had you.
no it's not.
"It is illegal to purchase, import or keep a gerbil as a pet in the U.S. State of California". But if you can get one, I don't think the police will search your house with no hint of anything looking for gerbils.
i wouldnt think so, cause gerbils are domestic pets and they would not be illegal to keep a domestic pet. they are just like hamters. if you really want to know, ask a petstore helper.
Mongolian gerbil (or clawed jird)
Duprasi (or fat-tailed gerbil)
These are the types of gerbils illegal to own in California, according to the website listed below.
