i know what it is..im a hamster lover and care taker! but me and my cousin are having a debate over this..i know its a hamster but hes calling it a mouse..and hes also saying they're short tailed mice..
Answers:
Definitely a Dwarf Hamster.
That is definitely not a mouse, at least I have never ever seen a mouse that looked like that.
There is a short tailed hoping mouse, but they are extinct, and a short tailed shrew, but they look more like moles. I just tried googling short haired mouse and came up with nothing.
So I am sure what you have on your hands is definitely
Check out this summilarish pic

Good Luck :)

Thats a dwarf hamster. I have actually a female and male of those hamsters and they look so much alike with the one in the picture.
Hope this helps!

Yes it is a dwarf hamster, and its super cute! My family cals my gerbils "rats", and "mice" too. It really does not bother me, I know in my heart that they are gerbils....
It's a dwarf hamster. Show your brother pictures of dwarf hamsters from google and tell him to compare their bodies. Different colors probably, but same shape.
It is totally a dwarf hamster. I own a dwarf hamster and she looks exactly like the one in the picture!
Yup, just like the other people, that indeed is a dwarf hamster. My dwarf hamster looks like the hamster in the picture. Good luck with your cousin.
Looks like a Dwarf to me. A Siberian Dwarf, a small little nose and not quite as lare of eyes. Its so cute! I have a Russian Dwarf Mix, she looks similar to that. No, hamsters arn't mice. They are classified as rodents. But not mice.
looks like it

Is this good cage for a guinea pig?
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pr...
(Medium Sized/Only one guinea pig)
Answers:
That is far too small. Guinea pigs need lots of room for them to run about and explore- not only will your guinea pig be very pleased with a bigger cage, you'll see a lot more activity from him and it will make owning him as a pet a lot more worthwhile. Take a look at www.guineapigcages.com for information on how to build your own cage that is a lot more suitable for your pet and will cost you a lot less money, plus you can personalise it to suit your needs.
Yes
no that's far too small.
http://www.petplanet.co.uk/shop_dev/asse...
That's more the right size, because they need somewhere to hide to go to sleep in, and they need room to move about.
Guinea pigs chew; I'd worry about the plastic bottom holding up.
This site has custom guinea pig cages: http://www.guineapigcages.com/
Way to small. One pig needs 7.5 square feet. It sounds like a whole lot but it's not what it seems. However, It is bigger than that cage. A C%26C cage is bigger and much cheaper than the cage you found. Read this site for instructions on how to build www.guineapigcages.com
No, a little too small. Get one that is like 3-5 inches bigger.
Guinea Pigs are fairly easy to care for. A cage should have plenty of room for them to play and explore. The floor should be easy to clean, but not wire like bunny cages because the pads of their little feet will get caught and possibly even become torn. They should be allowed time outside of the cage daily to run around on the floor and even outside if possible, but with supervision so that they do not get lost or hurt.
This would be a good cage if there is nothing in the bottom to catch the guinea pigs feet and if you stick to a size large and up. Guinea pigs need a lot of room since they do get a little bigger.
that is an ok cage for a guinea pig, if you plan to spend a lot of time with your piggy. (and as long as it DOES NOT HAVE A WIRE FLOOR) they actually do much better in larger cages. they seem to be happier in larger cages. the link below has some wonderful ideas on housing for happy piggies. remember piggies love to run, play, and stretch their legs just like we do. and they love having the room to do it in.anyway, best of luck with your lil piggy...
Why go to such an expense? You can raise a guinea pig in a plastic tub from wal-mart. The water bottle hangs right off the side, put some shavings and a food dish in the bottom and you are set. I have personally raised many pigs this way.
It's just not enough room. Try here: http://www.guineapigcages.com/buycc.htm...
You can buy the entire cage kit for half of what you'd pay for the first cage you linked to, and it's the recommended size for happy healthy piggies! Bottom line, nearly all "pet store" cages just don't cut it for guinea pigs.
yeah, that's sort of like the kind i have for my gp
Nooooooo! Listen to what people are telling you!
Acanoffleas, Memphis Gal, %26 El have it right. There should be at least 7 1/2 square feet of space for one pig. If you put your piggie in this cage, there will be no room for him/her to move once you have a pigloo %26 feed dish in there. Visit the guineapigcages website %26 find out how to build you a cage with the minimum space requirements. Its really not difficult at all! Once I had my supplies, I had it put together in about 20 minutes! Go for it! I KNOW you can do it!! ;-)
Best of luck!
we got a very long clear plastic rubbermaid tub for ours, that was only a foot deep. she had plenty of room to run around, plus it was really easy to keep clean.

Is there such thing as hamster clothes u know 2 like dress them up in and if there is where can i get some?
umm so like u know how u like dress up dogs?? well yea im wondering if u can do that with hamsters cuz i want to spoil my hammie rotten! LOL plz answer
Answers:
since hamsters groom themselves they would either eat it or firgure out a way to get it off. i would not try and waste time. however, you can try to get a small hat for it. you can try that. but you probably need to make it yourself.
barbie doll clothes?
you could make some. but i think your hamster would much prefer to eat the clothes than wear them.
I think he would just chew on them.. And that wouldn't be good...
Those clothes wouldn't spoil your hamster rotten. Your hamster would care less about clothes, would probably be very unhappy wearing them, since they like to groom themselves, and would have a loss of the sense of balance.
I don't think there is anywhere you can buy them clothes, but I would suggest looking through the toy section of a store and seeing if they have toys that are hamster sized with clothes on and then using that.
yea well i think your hamster will like to chew them
Ewww! you should stop being silly. He'll eat them!
Your hamster would not enjoy being dressed up. They are very fragile creatures and just maneuvering them into clothes could hurt them or even break their bones.
Besides, hamsters are afraid of being held tightly, as you would have to do to dress them, and the clothes would feel like they were being squeezed -- they are afraid of that because it is like being clutched in the claws of a predator such as an eagle.
If you want to spoil your hamster, do things for it that it enjoys. Read up on hamsters and find out what those things are.
Most animals actually prefer not wearing clothes. They are restricting and sometimes too hot for the animal to wear.
that just sounds like cruel and unnusual punnishment to the poor hampster
how is like putting like clothes like on your hamster spoiling him? you're the only only who will like it..
You could always make some but make sure that they are not toxic because you hamster probley won't like them because hamster like to groom themselves, but some hamsters might like it (about 1 in every 100), but others will think it is itchy!

Is there such as a all white hamster?
COULD THEY ?
Answers:
I have 2 pure whites that are Syrians, one with long hair and black eyes called and the other is short hair with red eyes and both are males. I also have a pure white female Russian dwarf hamster with birth defects due to her parents being bred. "Although Dwarfs don't carry some of the lethal genes known to exist in Syrians, if two spotted dwarfs (normally red eyed dwarfs) are mated, there is the possibility of creating the Anopthalmic White Gene as seen in the Syrians." She is blind in one eye due to it being underdeveloped and is deaf with her good eye red in color. She's an Anopthalmic (eyeless) Whites, which are usually born with no eyes and no teeth and die within 2 weeks. She's a rare one where she made it and has one sighted eye, but is completely deaf. She's only 2" long instead of 3"-4" like a normal Russian dwarf is. We found all three at pet stores and the dwarf was deemed not adoptable by the store so we asked to see her and they allowed up to adopt her ourselves. They store employees know I rescue small animals and the one who helped us said she was going to be feed to one of the snakes and asked up to take her. Beigh a pet store they wouldn't just give her to me, I did have to buy her, but at a discount that I asked for. They have asked about her and I give them up dates. This pet store cares enough about it's small animals to use only Care Fresh with them instead of cedar, pine, aspen or even saw dust. They know that the wood products are bad for small animals health.
I seen one on Hamtaro
Yes, I've seen one only one. It was an albino with red eyes.
Yes, there is! I used to own several. Some were albino, others were just white.
I'm sure there must be albino hamsters out there, if nothing else.
Yes, there are albino hamsters which are all white and has pink eyes.
oh sure there are all white hamsters, ive seen them! maybe there arent as many but they do have them.
Yes. I have one named Eskimo he isnt albino and is very sweet.
There are all white creatures in about every species. They are albino and have red eyes.
Yes, there is.
If they are white, and not albino, they are called black-eyed whites.
If they are white and have red eyes, they are albino, and may be carrying color genes that are not visible because their body lacks the pigment neccessary to display it.
The Dwarf Russian hamster becomes white in the winter. (I'm thinking of buying one of those and naming it Hershey [;)
Yes. I had one when I was a child. White all over with pink eyes. They are called albino. You can rarley come across this in all breeds of animals. and humans too!
yeah rare cost a good bit more :( i wnt 1
all white hamster i don't believe so.
yes, i remember reading it somewhere in a book that there was a type of an hamster that was all white. there's also this kind of hamster that changes color according to season. during summer it would be one color, and during winter it would turn all white.
yes, i used to have an entirely white hamster. i don't know what breed she was, but white was her only color.
it doesn't cost any more than a regular hamster though, its just a color.
she was albino, bcuz she had red eyes, but i think there is also a white one with dark eyes.

Is there such a thing as a wild hamster?
Answers:
*hick* Well, ole Fluffin Jr. *hick* shore got *hick* pretty wil ... wil ... wild *hick* las night!
yeah.. they live in the desert.
Don't push it bud!
Yes. Here's a link with more info about hamsters.
http://library.thinkquest.org/tq0312800/...
Hamsters are now extinct in the wild. they were originally dry, desert animals from syria, but are now only bred as pets. However, they are not naturally tame like cats and dogs, and are not domesticated, so will only repond to how they are handled. A hamster that bites is not a happy hamster.
Yes before humans tamed them.
Drive down to the Titty Twister bar they have em in all shapes and sizes.
Yes, one species is being reintroduced in some parts of Europe hopefully soon to see if they will repopulate
Yes. Syrian hamsters come from Syria. They were found by some guy in like the 1930s. I say that they used to be wild. Dwarf Hamsters were found in different places and weren't sold as pets til 1995. My dad was shocked to hear that fact because we have two dwarf hamsters upstairs about a year old. Syrian hamsters actually liked to be alone in the wild. That is why they should have a whole cage to themselves today. Dwarf hamsters are social so they can have a buddy unlike the Syrian Hamster. My dwarf hamsters are both males and they both live with each other and I have no problems with it.
they don't have hamsters in the wild but gerbils live wild in the dessert
they have back legs like kangaroos mine used to jump like as high as freaking hell
Is there something wrong with my new hamster?
On Saturday my mom got me a hamster for my 16th b-day that just passed on sunday!
I named him Ollie. Cute lil guy he is too!
Thing is..
All he has been doing since I got him is sleep and wake up every few hours, stuff his cheeks with food and scurry back to his corner. And he hasnt been drinking any water at all either :(
And along with that, his ears have been glued to his head.arent they supposed to pop up? And around his tail area is wet.does he have Wet Tail, possibly?
I'm really worried. Is Ollie ok? What can I do? :(
Answers:
I can answer a few of your problems. Hamsters in new enviroments usually will do the "Sleep-and-run-for-food" bit. Water, i'm not sure about. He's probably a little scared, which is why his ears are back. As for the wet tail area, call into the vet and describe his symptoms.
A bit of advice:
Pinch up a section of his skin. If it returns quicly, he's hydrated, if not, then alot of the symptoms you describe could be attributed to dehydration due to nervousness.
he has wet tail it sounds like. i would take him to the vet pronto because he probably will die
yes, definitely sounds like wet tail. he's definitely running the risk of being dehydrated. The vet can give you some stuff to mix into his water, that you'll probably have to force him to drink. I bought a very small, young hamster a few years ago, and she died within 48 hours of bringing her home. We took her to the vet, and she injected some fluids and gave me medicine for her water to stop the diarrhea. Sadly, it didn't help. Wet tail can be brought on from the stress of being in a new home. Keep everything calm and quiet, and take him/her to the vet as soon as possible. Also, just a side note, don't ever use wood shavings as bedding. They can cause serious health problems, especially in young animals.
Are you overfeeding him %26 feeding him the correct food %26 does he have fresh water (changed daily)? Does he have diarrhea? If you got him from a petstore, like Petsmart, they may have an employee who works with the hampsters regularly %26 could give you some answers if you call there. If not, you may need to call a vet or take the hampster for an exam.
Apart from the wet bottom, everything you discribed is normal. He will be drinking, you just wont catch him doing it. My husband was convinced for months that our hamster was'nt drinking when we got him. I had to sit him down and gently explain that if he was'nt drinking, he would'nt be peeing and he would be dead LOL. We have had him a year now.
Hamsters sleep all day long, they are nocturnal. Which means they wake late at night, although I have to say mine does'nt. He sleeps all day and only gets up every so often at night to feed and play.
All hamsters store foor in there cheeks, they will normally empty it out in their sleeping quarters as the naturally hoard food away.
Hamsters will have their ears lying flat if they have just woke up or are scared, as he is new, it may well be because he is scared.
But im fraid he should not have a wet bottom, It does sound like it could be wet tail.. You know the rest, get him to a vet and fast, if caught in time he can be treated with antibiotics. Good luck x
u do know there nocturnal, right?? a sip of water to us would b like a bottle of aquafina to them, make sure u get cotton-e bedding, cedar if ingested, can make them pee more, making them get wet tail. just make sure u keep changing the bedding!
Reading your question, I wasn't worried at all until you said his tail area is wet. This does indeed sound like wet tail.
Do get the hamster to a vet asap, as Wet Tail is quickly fatal in rodents. It is in fact diarrhoea caused by bacterial infection - the wetness is caused by the runny poo. It needs to be treated with antibiotics and rehydration fluids, as the dehydration quickly debilitates small furries, so don't wait!

and one person said he can die from wet tail, HE CANT.
my hamster sometimes has a kinda wetish tail but i think its coz when she does a wee, it go down tothetail. trust me i no whatim talkingabout.
and if so, my hamsters hadthis for like 2 years now, and nothing happened, dontworrry.
He probz isnt drinking coz he dosent need to lol? give him some fruit/veg coz that had water in it.
also, has they come out at night, you might not see him drink because you would probz be asleep.
and the ears go down when they just wak up or not woken probz, then they go up.
hope i helped. bye

Is there something wrong with my guinea pig?
I've had Leo for a while now and he's super hyperactive at some times of day and not at others. For a while he was really scratching himself to the point that he would have sores, but me being a naive owner thought it was dry skin so I did everything I could for him. Thinking back on it now, it could have been mites. Now he's running around and he will jump and sorta twitch after he itches himself, almost like he's having a seizure. Is that popcorning? He keeps sweaking really really loud too, in a yelling sorta tone, no a talking one. Should I take him to the vet? What can I do to help him?
Answers:
Ok, first of all, the twitching is popcorning, mine do that a lot. And the loud yelling is telling you that he is hungry. Even if you have fed him, some still make that sound. It's called wheeking. You should probably take him to the vet, just to be safe.
Well your piggy is probably popcorning but
if you feel more comfortable you could call
or take your piggy to the vet! But it is most
likely fine! good luck!!
~Hope I helped!!!!
