I am 110% sure that they are both female. I am an expert on gerbils (I have had 54 gerbils at one time but now I only have two, I am known as Gerbil Mommy at the pet store, lol.) But they seem to be a little bit more "friendly" than the other female gerbils were. Is it possible that they are gay or just bored?
ALSO- One of them bites and the other jumps all the time, is there a way to make them stop doing that?
Answers:
That's actually how rodents show dominance over one another.
what's the difference if they are gay or not...would you take issue with that?
I'm not sure if they are technically gay... But I have heard of this many times before. Usually, with animals, they are just going on instinct, and even though there are two females in the cage, they may not know that, or may not possibly even care.
If one of them bites, you can try to hold it more often to get it more tame. Also holding the jumping one, and cupping it with both hands might help.
let them be gay.
Yes, they could be. If you observe them pleasuring each other, than that is definitely the case. If they are just very close and friendly, it's not necessarily the case.
try a rat trap if the one who servives cries you know they were gay together :0)
are you a homophobic huh!! nah oj but nah i doubt it they have just prob become bff's lol and just hold them more and thatll stop xx
someone probally got them mixed up!
my friend has a female gp that acts like a male and.... well you get it. the reson why there r doing this is their hormones. Simple. Hormones.
The first question: It is most likely a territorial thing not unlike dogs.
second: Unless you want to remove there legs then no.
They show "who's in charge" that way. Ihave 2 bunnies, on boy and one girl--the girl is always "giving it" to the boy--very amuzing!
i dont think they're really gay, but they i've had thsi classmate, and she had two female gerbils, and on of htem had babies. a few months later, i saw in this kids natuer magazine that there were these scientist testing two female gerbils, and they had babies! they were definitely females tho. sorry, but i dont think you can stop them from biting and jumping unless you separate the cages for the biting.
My female guinea pigs mate each other. They only do it when one is in season (on her 'period')... it is just a hormonal thing. It is probably the same with your gerbils. It can also be a dominance thing. My male guinea pigs mount each other because they want to be 'the boss'.
:)
when i was younger i had two female hamsters that would hump each other. my mom asked the vet, and he said that they do it mainly to show dominace.
eeeeeeeeeew! that is gross!! i am not an expert on gerbils but that is gross!
