Is it true that ferrets tend to be aggressive or mean?

A healthy, well-socialized ferret is unlikely to be agressive or mean. They are curious, friendly %26 playful to the point of seeming hyper, which might *look* agressive to a casual observer. They typically do a frenzied, sideways-hopping "happy dance" when they're excited %26 I've seen this freak ppl out if they weren't used to ferrets.
Baby ferrets might give you a nip while playing, just like a puppy or kitten would. If you respond by saying "no!" in a sharp voice %26 immediately end the play session, the little guy will soon learn that biting will bring playtime to a quick end.
Ferrets aren't rodents, by the way, but are more closely related to skunks %26 racoons.

They are no more or less aggressive than dogs or cats. That is, some can be more aggressive, some less so, it really just depends on the individual creature.
I have never met an aggressive ferret personally. The one I had for 6 years was a complete sweetie--never, never bit.
Even if they do nip, they respond to behavior correction they same as any dog.

i have 3 ferrets and they are sweet and curious animals. they can nip at you, but they are just being playful. if an animal is mean or aggressive it is usually because they have been treated poorly by their owners.

ferrets are not mean animals in general although you may have a bad seed once in awhile sometimes there playfullness can be misinterpeted as aggressionwhen they start to thrash their bodies they are usually playing and when they bite they are usually playing as well there bites generally wont even leave a mark or hurt

Yes.We have 2 ferretts, and one is agressive and one is not.. Our female is very mean, she bites, but our male who is the same age doesnt, he likes to cuddle. Im not sure on why she bites, but i know they are kind of hyper if they are caged for a long period of time then get released to play. Also if you have a mating pair of ferretts, the female must breed, if not she can die. Not exactly sure how or what causes it, but a pet store or someone who is a certified ferrett breeder should be able to tell you. you can probily find out in your local phone book. i have 2 ferrets and sometimes they get annoyed or angry and take it out on people or other animals. my ferrets have disagrements sometimes and bite at eachother but then they rgrew out of it so i would have to say mostly young ferrets get agressive a lot. hope this helps you out a bit!
