Wow, the 2 answers above are quite wrong. Your cage is too small. For two pigs you should have at least a 30" x 50" cage, bigger if you have males. Males tend to need more space. www.guineapigcages.com has CHEAP, HUGE cages that are the best for your guinea pigs.
It's great that you are going to get a friend for your pig! Please adopt one from your local shelter or look on petfinder.com. There are many many pigs that need homes that would be a great friend for your pig.
Introduction techniques is the key to your pigs getting long. This site has the best introductions techniques. http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm...
*Don't house or leave guinea pigs outside for extended periods of time or without constant supervision.
Its a alittle small. You cna make a bigger cage for cheaper than buying one. http://www.guineapigcages.com/ Introduce them on no mans territory. They will need a bigger cage so they can get away from each other. You have the same size cage as mine but we are building a new one.
you should probably make a c%26c cage. they are cheaper then buying a cage and the proper size. most cages from a pet store are waaaaay too small! oh and please adopt!

That cage is big enough. People are soooo critical when it comes to guinea pigs, but I'm not. I think that the cage is fine. It is good that you give him plenty of floor time. It keeps them occupied and gives them exercise. You might consider putting them outside during the day in a wire enclosure. We put ours outside during the day in summer and let them run free around the yard (with a waterbottle and plenty of hiding places handy). They enjoy eating the grass, running around, and their cage stays clean a LOT longer! It's only a suggestion, though.
When you want to introduce them, take them out into a new area and put them together. But if you are getting a new cage, just put them together in the cage when you have it ready. That's what we do and it works all the time. Any time that you get a new guinea pig, there will be fighting. It's unavoidable. It's natural. And I wouldn't worry about it. :) They have to have some way to establish a pecking order. If I were you I would put some peices of fresh vegetables or fruits in the cage to distract both of them when they meet. Other than that, leave it up to them! It may take a while, but they will get used to each other!
That should be plenty of room. As for introducing them I would intro them through the cage one inside one out or in another cage. This allows them time to smell eachother and get acclmated. Males are harder to introduce than females. Give them a few hours to get to know eachother then try putting them together. Make sure you have thick gloves around so you can seperate them if it gets bad and turns into a fight. Trust me you don't want to get bit by fighting guinea pigs.
