Is it safe to allow a hamster to run around the house? Would it try to eat dangerous things?

It is extremely dangerous. He could get lost, eat something he shouldn't, electrocute himself, get stuck someplace and die, so many things...
They have little pens you can get. They look like miniature corrals. You can put him in there but don't leave him alone because hamsters are escape artists.

Get a rodent ball. Way safer. They can get into amazing places and it will take days to find it if you lose it.

no way. he will eat sutff and burrow into some tiny spot and you might not find him...plus they POOP and you wouod forever be finding tiny hampster poop around...ew! :) The coral things they sell are great, I use them for my guinea pig !

If you let him roam around the house you will likely never find him again...and also...just like a mouse they will chew through things...get him a hamster ball and let him play in that every once in a while.

if you want to let your hamster run, go to the pet store and buy one of those little balls. this will protect her from getting stepped on, getting lost or eating anything it shouldn't. they are fun to watch run in those things. we had several of them over the years.

Don't ever do that! I learned my lesson. if you let it run around the house it could get in the vents and burn up. thats what happend to mine...=[. My other hamster got stuck in the kitchen cabnets and it took 2 days to get him out. And yea, he could also eat wires or other stuff. There are many reasons not to do that.

no, it is not safe to let a hamster run around the house because he will get into dangerous problems just think you in your room while your hamster is roaming around the house doing things that you wont let him or her do so i suggest getting a hamster ball or or those pens but keep an eye on him or her because hamsters are escape artists these thing are safer and then you'll be a hero to your hamster because you love her or him so much that you wouldnt want him or her get hurt
