Is my rat male or female?

Have a look at this full size picture of its bits here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wendy.gale/...
Answers:
You most definately have a female rat. She doesn't look to be a young rat
Even though male rats have the ability to suck the testicles up into their abdominal cavities when they are scared there is still the evidence of them being male. And the rat in the picture is not a male.
We have a saying in the Rat Fancy, "If you lift the tail and you don't see anything, you have a female"
Male rats have huge testicles, can't miss them, we affectionally call them "cushions", "goolies", "pads", "paint brushes".
Another clue: Female rats have nipples, while males do not.

"my life has gone to the rats"
My dad always used to say that the females "have buttons on their vests." Also, males have a big swelling under their tails.
It's kinda hard to tell, but I think it's a boy.
*edit* My bad. I read all the other answers, took a second look, and I figure I guessed wrong.
It's a girl.
is it young?
if so its hard to say but if its a little older its a female. i have two maled and mine dont have nipples so im pretty sure its female. males have HUGE testicles when fully mature so it will become aparent with time what sex it is.
i think its female
Many male mammals have nipples, but not all of them do. I know for certain male mice and rats do not, it's a female.
Edit: I found a website:

ook so if its a male, trust me you WILL be able to tell
That is a female, besides the fact that males have very noticable packages, the space from the anus to the genitals is located farthur apart.
It's a girl. I asked my mom, and she's a scientist on rats. She CLONES rats.
