Sounds like mites. Mites cannot be seen. They are skin burrowing. Many times, skin scrapings still won't confirm mites. Please don't put your pigs through that. Ivermectin is the right treatment. However, it has to be reapplied every 7-10 days for 4 consecutive weeks.
Mites are very harmful to your pig. Itchiness is the mildest effect that to may have to you pig. But left untreated, your pig will become sore, develop wounds, and then begin to seizure.

How does it loose hair ?.If it is just like their hair flying everywhere when u pick it up it is quite normal but if u find it's cage full of hair or fur it can be mites .so take it to a professional *Guinea pig* Vet.
