Sounds like this is what you are talking about it

This Snak Shak is made of ingredients that rats don't want to consume, but it will make a great hut for them until such time that they have destroyed it by chewing on it. I have been tempted myself to get one for my rats but I have several cages of rats and they (the shaks) are too expensive to buy one per cage.
Peanuts and Cashews are fine for rats as occasional treats. *****Do not give rats raw nuts!!!***** Raw nuts have anti-nutrients in them and are listed as one of the forbidden foods for rats. Causes red blood cell clumping.

The nuts must be dry-roasted and unsalted.
Occasionally a rat will be allergic to peanuts, but it's not like what happens to people with allergic reactions to peanuts. This allergy in rats will manifest itself as scabs and itchiness around the head. The simple remedy is to stop giving them peanuts.

the edible houses are fine, in fact most mice, rats, hamsters love them. Go for it.
I dont think it has pine in it. The only things that are like edible huts and stuff are made from alfalfa and honey. Yes, they can have those, they chew on them so after a while you will need to buy a new one. I dont think they should have peanuts or cashews though.
the snak shak is what im presuming you mean and no its not good for rats and is infact a waste of money
they will chew it but dont expect them to eat it
alfalfa is just grass rats dont eat grass unlike rabbits, gps etc
the straw is a problem due to sharp edges
as for nuts, yes they can, but not roasted or salted, just plain raw, but not too many. beware rats can be as allergic to peanuts as humans are
dont use monky nuts[ peanuts in shells] they are dangerous
I have 4 guinea pigs, and to be honest I do not have any rats or know too much about them, but, alfalfa is a hay that(and there are different types of hay) is higher in protein than the other hays, so it is richer, only good for younger rodents or sick ones-or pregnant ones-and pine is not usually good for bedding cause of the scent since it can damage fragile respiratory tracts-I know you said it was a hut but I would not buy it-they would probably be just as happy with a wooden hut/house. There are more nutritious treat for animals. Do what you feel is best-I am certainly no expert on rats, just know more about g pigs :o)
Yes that is fine but you should not use pine for bunnies!
