Is something wrong with my hamster?

I have an hamster who is over 2 years old now but he is in his house alot and he is also bald over his belly and neck and is starting to thin on his back too. On either side of his back are 2 black marks which look like they are on the skin and i wonder if that is something like a mole which we get? Can someone please help?
Thanks

There are many things that can cause baldness in hamsters. Poor nutrition or mites could be causing this. I would look into a liquid vitamin and also look to see if you see any mites in the cage. Mites are very small reddish/black dots. You should see them in the bedding moving around (if he is infested with them). There are some good treatments for mites that you can pick up at your local pet store. Some of this may just be aging. Hamsters generally have a life expectancy of 2-3 years, but I have heard of them living up to 5 years. Good luck!
theyz beautiful little creatures, but two is getting up in years!
Vet will tell you what the condition is though.
ummmm... mabe it has a sicknes like it makes it look old? this is wat i think... but take it to the vet!
2 is a good age for a hamster. Their lifespan is only 2 to 3 years. If his fur is balding it could be due to old age or a skin mite or similar. As hamsters get to old age their immune system doesn't work too good and they pick up all sorts of things, particularly skin problems, so it could be that. Take a trip to the vet - he could help with some parasite lotion or powder if its something like that.
It sounds age related more than a problem caused by mites...heres some info I found on the site Ive listed - Maybe its time to think about buying a new baby hamster ?
"Between the age of 2 and 3 years a hamster will start to show signs of old age. It will start losing its fur, sometimes leaving bald spots". ...
Your hamster is pretty old so i would go to the vet or just call one and see if there IS anything wrong but your hamster is probably just old!
those marks you see might be their oil glands, and they live 2-3 years so your hammy is doing well. they do start to lose hair too.
maby his time is up u have an opton let him stay like that or take him to the vets and get him put dawn u hafto be crule to be kind x
Hey hunny.
I dont get it your hamster is ill and your worrying about the black spots on its back.
Girl get your hamster down the vets for a check up before you lose her/him for good.
How can you live each day knowing theres something wrong with your poor hammie :(
It sounds like he is just old, but take him to the vet just in case.
