I know when you clean mouse poo you should wear gloves sometimes even a mask. Do you need this kind of protective wear when cleaning a hamster cage.

The mask is a good idea but i never wore one when changing our hamster cages. The gloves are not necessary just as long as you wash your hands very well after you are done.
Well.. I've never heard it about mice even..
But no, not really. Often you want to use gloves or something when wiping it out, just because it's a bit messy else.
