Is it ok that my hamster doesn't have a wheel in his cage? We bring him out everyday to go in his ball for about 25 minutes then we put him in his cage for a little then put him back in his ball for about another 25 minutes! Then we put him back in his cage and then put him in a bath tub where he runs around for 10 minutes then we put him back in his ball for another 25 minutes! We do that to make sure he doesn't get to tired and he gets his exercise! So is it ok that he doesn't have a wheel to use? He will have one in like a week though! And sometimes when i can't sleep i put him in his ball in really really early in the morning! So i make sure he gets lots of exercise but i want to make sure its ok!

Well it sounds like your hamster is getting lots and lots of exercise! So I think it is ok that your hamster doesn't have a wheel right now but I think your hamster should get one so he can run at night not just in his ball!

That's fine. As long as he is getting his exercise, he will be okay. I would recommend doing this routine as late in the day as possible though, because hamsters are nocturnal. He will be more prone to exercise and be active in the evening.
Yes! If you will be getting one soon, don't use all this vigerous excercise! What if you were in a ball or a big tub 24/7? The poor guy is probably dead right now!!!
Long term hamsters really do love to have a wheel but if you're getting one in a week then I think he will cope til then ;)
It is fine for now, but your hamster will enjoy running in a wheel, as long as you are getting a wheel soon its okay for now at least
its absolutely ok that ur hamster does not hav a wheel... mine didnt even hav a wheel for a month, and i just held her alot, and made her run in her ball, and she was perfect... and ur getting one in less that a week, so dont stress it...

no its not ok hamster are not ternal so they sleep during the day so u mught be disturbing him.and hamster need exersice throught the night (hamster werent ment for the day)
it is just fine if you give them lots of exersize but i would rocomend a wheel cause it keeps them busy at night
hamsters like to be up at night and if you wake them up its proven that it shortens there life. o and make shure your not over exersing him tooo much
You shouldn't have him in the ball that much, no more than I would say 20 minutes a day. Hamsters love wheels they are always on it, but if you get one soon it should be fine.

I'm pretty atheletic, and I think an exercise regimen like that would kill me!
I promise your hamster will be okay for a week without the wheel.

Ofc, your hamster won't mind! They don't have wheels in the wild; as long as your cage is big and it keeps him interested!
ReplyDeleteI've got a cage with removable wheel, bedroom, and then a tube connecting it to a burrowing maze; I can take off the wheel when he's annoying me running in it at night, but he's still getting excersize and entertainment from the rest of the cage!
*Its great to have tubes and toys for him to play with, if you dont have a wheel!
