Is it normal for my hamster to eat a whole saltine cracker?

she keeps it in her mouth. is that normal?
Answers:
its not the cracker that she needs its the salt off of it there are salt wheels that you can buy for hampsters and gerbils that will provide them with there daily sodium intake as for stuffing the whole cracker in her mouth, id break it up into pieces the next time just to make sure she doesnt choke. the cracker wont hurt er mine eats them all the time
Probably yes because they are similar to squirrels, chipmunks, ect. And they store things in their cheeks.Besides, I have Guinea Pigs And they could eat forever! :)
Yeah, this is normal, hamsters can be incredibly greedy!
yes the salt is good 4 them dont let them eat 2 much!!
yes theyll keep it in there so they can move it somewhere else or eat it later theyll eat anything
After thanksgiving dinner, the amount of food you've consumed is just as gluttoneous. A whole cracker is quite excessive. I would suggest a good fourth of one. Remember these animals are meant to forage for food all night long and return most of it to the next for napping and eating until the next collection cycle. It sounds like you placed a all you can eat banquet and your guy loves to eat. It will take a little self-control and portion maintenance, but you'll get his appetite in line with his needes... may I suggest a well balanced mixture from a pet store?
